bluefin tuna of the season. It was nearly 50 pounds. Also out of Fisherman’s, Condor was also on a weekend 1.5-day trip and the 32 anglers on board caught 109 yellowtail and 100 rockfish. Fortune was also on a 1.5-day trip out of Fisherman’s and the 21 anglers had 65 yellowtail and 105 rockfish. Eclipse out of Seaforth Sportfishing was on a 1.5-day trip over the weekend, and the 27 anglers on board had 93 yellowtail and 135 rockfish. Pacific Voyager, also out of Seaforth, was on a two-day trip with 19 anglers and landed 80 yellowtail and 190 rockfish. The Chief out of H&M Landing had 36 anglers on its weekend 1.5-day trip and landed 62 yellowtail, 184 rock- fish and a bonito.
LOBSTERS AND SHORTS: The lobster season, which continues until March 15, has remained tough along the coast, with lots and lots of
short, but the local islands remain pretty good. Gail Force out of L.A. Waterfront Sportfishing had 18 keeper lobster on Feb. 28, 38 on the 27th, and limits for all on board on the 26th. Private boaters have been averaging from two to five per angler per trip, with limits no uncommon for the diligent.
INSTRUCTIONAL CHARTERS: The staff of 976- TUNA is hosting instructional charters throughout the season, offering advice to beginning or veteran anglers and on-the-water teaching of techniques for different saltwater species. The first trip of 2016 will be a three- quarter jaunt aboard Pursuit out of 22nd Street Landing on April 29. Cost is $75 per angler. Check
