and Miss Long Beach Gay Pride Pageant. Each year, the charity title is awarded to a contestant in each category who raise the most funds. Monies raised benefit the United Waves Scholarship fund. On Saturday May 14, the winners will be announced at Hamburger Mary’s Long Beach during a fabulous beer bust and benefit party running from 3 to 6 p.m. To donate to your favorite contestants, or for more information on this and many other Imperial Court events go to
longbeachimperialcourt.ipower.com. If getting wild with an amazing drag show is your forte, join me at Hamburger Mary’s Long Beach on Wednesday, May 18, as we welcome guest celebrities from RuPaul’s Drag Race, to the Starlet Revue Drag Show. This is our huge Pride kickoff and each year proves to be a smashing success with dancing all night after the show. Wild Wednesdays takes place every Wednesday night and is a 21+ event. For more information, go to
hamburgermarys.com/longbeach . Always a big Pride weekend hit, the LGB2NETWORK’s Play@ Maya.6 returns for 2016 with their annual weekend party at the Hotel Maya DoubleTree by Hilton’s beautiful waterfront pool. The party runs from 12 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 and will feature sun-soaked gods along with superstar DJs Ryan Kenney, George Figares and Tony Mazza. This event is just across the bay from downtown and can be accessed by simply driving across the Rainbow Bay bridge. Clearly, Dorothy is down for a pool party, as well. For more information, check out the LGBTNet- work facebook page. Sunday, May 22 marches in with the Long Beach Pride Parade run-
ning down Ocean Boulevard from Temple to Alamitos. It’s always a blast and brings thousands of well-wishers from all across Southern California. I will once again, be your emcee on Ocean Boulevard at the main grandstand area in Bixby Park, between Junipero and Cherry. I hope you’ll join me for 2016as I host the live telecast! The Parade is free and the main Bixby Park viewing locale provides a large, grassy area and plenty of shade trees for you. The Pre-Parade show kicks off around 9:30 a.m. before the parade and will feature a huge wedding celebration! Local businesses have donated tons of fabulous giveaways and you’ll get a chance at winning free tickets to the Pride Festival itself. The Long Beach Pride Festival will be held along Shoreline Drive on Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22 and will feature superstar acts such as Tyler Glenn and Neon Trees as well as Thelma Houston this year. Living pin-up and RuPaul’s Drag Race superstar, Delta Work (recently voted Best Drag Queen in Long Beach for 2016 by Get Out LB), will be the emcee on the Saturday‘s Pride Festival Main Stage from 4 to 10 p.m. I have every intention of being there to witness her beauty, take in the fits of laughter she will inspire and to possibly throw small, grocery items in her general direction! I hope to see you all out and about for this festive weekend. Whether
you attend the festival grounds, the multitude of local bars along the Broadway crawl, or join the gigantic party at Hamburger Mary’s on Pine Avenue downtown, I’m wishing you all a very happy Pride Season and the beginning of a wonderful summer!
