LAKEVIEW— Lakeview is located on
the shores of Bull Shoals Lake and ad- jacent to the famous trout fishing of the White River. The community — with a population of 741 in the latest census — is home to many retirees and plays host to large numbers of anglers and vaca- tioners who return each year with their families to Lakeview’s resort facilities. Lakeview held its first urban deer
hunt in the 2011-12 hunting season fol- lowing approval by city voters in the 2010 election. Mayor Dennis Behling said dates for the 2015-16 hunt will be Sept. 8, 2015 through Feb. 28, 2016. The 2015-16 hunt will be managed
by the Bull Shoals Urban Bow Hunters Association under the direction of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. For information, contact Bill Craker at (870) 321-1447. Acombination municipal facility and
civic center located at 14 Skyles Lane, the Lloyd Travis Municipal Center is used for meetings and seminars by groups such as the Woodturners Club, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, an exercise club and others. Businesses in Lakeview include
resorts and restaurants, auto repair, bait and tackle shops, beauty salons and an enlarged and improved marina. Three large parks and walking trails
provide attractive areas for recreational activities and camping. Lakeview boasts

a Class 4 Insurance Services Office rating and is served by the Grover Township Fire Department. Behling presides at meetings of the
six-member city council, and Rebecca Barton serves as recorder/treasurer. Lakeview provides police services with a two-person department under Police Chief David Manley Hotchkiss, and provides building services with Building Inspector Maynard Gadway. Lakeview has a 1 percent city sales
tax which is part of the city, county and state total sales tax of 8.5 percent. Water service is available through
the Lakeview Midway Public Water Authority, under the management of Jan Burch, at 29 Howard Creek Road, Midway. The office is open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays (8 a.m. drive-up window with 24-hour drop slot) and can be contacted at (870) 431-8777, by fax at (870) 431-8800, or the 24-hour emer- gency number at (870) 736-6108.
