LEGAL EAGLES 20 QUESTIONS...

WHO ARE YOU? Tim Craig, Partner and Head of Construction and Renewable Energy teams at Langleys Solicitors LLP in York and Lincoln. I am a solicitor specialising in construction and engineering matters which I have been doing for almost 20 years.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU INTO THE INDUSTRY/YOUR POSITION? I always had an interest in building things as a child and spent lots of time watching and helping my father (who was an engineer) make and fix things around the home. As a construction solicitor it has been a natural progression in the last 5 years or so to become more and more involved in renewable energy projects of various shapes and sizes.

FAMILY STATUS?

Married to Sue for a little over 3 years with a step-son, Nate, who is almost 10 and a baby boy, William, who is fast approaching his first birthday.

WHO IS YOUR HERO AND WHY? I don’t have a ‘hero’ in the classic sense but at the moment my wife is my hero for looking after the four of us, running the house, organising us and always having time to help her family and friends. All on the bare minimum of sleep!

WHAT ANNOYS YOU THE MOST? Anyone who knows me knows I very rarely get annoyed (or let it show) but probably bad service and rudeness. It doesn’t take much effort to be polite and helpful, especially if you are in the service industry.

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST HOLIDAY? Our honeymoon to Mexico in 2010. It was the first, and so far only, 5 star fully-inclusive holiday we have had and the most relaxing (as long as I don’t think about the cost).

WHAT WAS YOUR WORST HOLIDAY? I’ve never had one of those ‘holiday nightmares’ you hear about in the papers. However I had a few ‘lads’ holidays when I was younger with dodgy accommodation, dodgy food and dodgy company!

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN?

Treat everyone the same, with respect, and in the manner in which you would like them to treat you, from the office junior to the senior partner. It has paid so many dividends over the years.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SMELL? It always used to be roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings but now I would say it is my baby boy William, all clean from the bath, in his sleep-suit and ready for bed. It doesn’t get better than that.
