REAL WEDDINGS | Kendall & Mac

What inspired your wedding theme? We both love all things vintage and rustic. It was very easy to decide the look and feel of our wedding. After lots of inspiration from magazines, blogs, and anything I could find online, I had a pretty good grasp on my favorite ideas taken from various weddings/events and just bringing them together for ours. My family took a huge part in creating all of the DIY work. My aunt and grandfather made the flower boxes, my grandmother decorated and covered all of the jars and my parents did the ceremony back drop and various details around the reception. It was so much fun and so special to include the entire family on the project.

What inspired your wedding color palette? We did not have any specific colors for our wedding.

What was special about where you got married? The couple that owns the venue are very close family friends of ours, Lisa and Brian. They went over and beyond to make everything so special and so easy for us. They had their crew doing anything and everything we needed while Brian hung extra lighting and Lisa walked around with a blower getting rid of leaves an hour before we started. Lisa has a passion for vintage things, and really took to my ideas and theme. She provided a lot of her personal items to help augment the décor. I am forever grateful for their support in making our day so special.

What do-it-yourself projects did you do? We really did everything. The only things we outsourced were the tables, linens, wedding cake, chairs, flowers, catering and silverware.

Tables: We had two different center pieces. One was the wooden box and the other was large mason jars, both filled with filler flowers. My grandfather and aunt made the boxes from old wood and my grandmother covered the jars with lace and burlap. We spent about a year gathering jars from yard sales and antique stores. We ordered rolls and rolls of burlap online and used those as table runners. We ordered new, not used, vintage inspired handkerchiefs off of ebay as everyone’s napkin and spent hours in antique stores looking for vintage china for each guest to eat off of.
