f you think of a Tablet, the Apple iPad probably comes to mind. Neither a mobile phone nor traditional PC, it filled the gap for a small touch screen computer used primarily for communication, entertainment and web browsing. Two years on and Apple have 50% of the market but today there are lots of Tablets to choose from - often with a more bearable price tag! So, how do you choose?
THE APPLE IPAD HAS COMPETITION! Screen Size
There are really two sizes to choose from – roughly a 10” screen and the smaller 7”. If you want to watch films or need a bigger screen for browsing the Internet then the 10” will serve you better.

Choose the Operating System Toshiba, Samsung and Sony all have Tablets that run on Google’s Android operating system. The Blackberry Playbook runs on a different operating system called RIM and Apple naturally have their own operating system on the iPad. Updates to the Android operating system have been fast and furious and the latest is version 4.1 – called the Ice Cream sandwich!
How Much Storage Do You Need? Tablets have 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage capacity and this dictates the price to a certain extent. If you are going to download and store books and films, then the more storage space the better.

Watch Out for the Google Nexus 7 In the 7” market, Google’s own Nexus 7 has just
been launched at an amazing £150 for an 8GB version (£199 for the 16GB). Running the latest Android operating system and with a quad core processor, it may well take the Tablet market by storm. Choosing a Tablet is a confusing business! Our
advice - go to a big store and try the tablets out to see which is the right one for you!
