are all distinguished musicians who play regularly in many of the foremost early music ensembles in the UK and across Europe. ‘Telemann and Friends’ will be an intimate chamber music concert exploring the music of the great German composer and some of his contemporaries, including J. S. Bach and Handel. Playing on period instruments, the trio has delighted audiences in London with their elegant and historically informed performances of Telemann’s music. There will be a pre- concert talk to introduce the instruments and the repertoire to be heard.

THE LAST OF THE HAUSMANNS - NATIONAL

THEATRE LIVE Thursday 11th

October @ 7pm

A new play by Stephen Beresford. Julie Walters plays Judy Haussman with Rory Kinnear and Helen McCrory as her children in this eagerly-anticipated new play: a funny, touching and sometimes

savage portrait of a family that’s losing its grip.

Anarchic, feisty but growing old, high society drop-out Judy Haussman remains in spirit with the Ashrams of the 1960s while holding court in her dilapidated Art Deco house on the Devon coast. After an operation, she’s joined by wayward offspring Nick and Libby, sharp-eyed granddaughter Summer, local doctor Peter, and Daniel, a troubled teenager who makes use of the family’s crumbling swimming pool. Together they share a few sweltering months in this chaotic world of all-day drinking, infatuations, long-held resentments, free love and failure. Cast includes Rory Kinnear, Isabella Laughland, Helen McCrory, Matthew Marsh and Julie Walters. Directed by Howard Davies

CHRISTOPHE STIEFEL TRIO – October @ 7.30pm

MUSIC Friday 12th

Hailing from Zurich, Stiefel has already

enjoyed a long and diverse career in Europe but may well be a new name to jazz audiences in the UK. Stiefel has collaborated with the gifted pianist Gwilym Simcock as part of the recent Steinway Festival series of piano duos at London’s Pizza Express Jazz Club. Christoph Stiefel is a highly imaginative pianist, and has the delicate touch of the experienced, free-spirited improviser. “One doesn’t only prick up one’s ears to the unusual selection of pieces, but also listens to the

nearly inexhaustible richness of fascinating sounds.”
