is the date you need pop in your diaries. The Kel Elliot Band will be gracing the floor with

their eclectic mix of the modern, traditional and downright quirky: jazz rendition of ‘Seven Nation Army’ is a real treat and I think Jack White would thoroughly approve. Lots happening on the Regatta music front this year, which includes: Regatta Proms, taking place at The Bandstand in Avenue Gardens on 25th August. All the fun of the Last Night, but closer to home, with mezzo-soprano Carolyn Harris accompanied by Gareth Perkins. Bring your union flags and give ‘em a wave! The Marquee in Coronation Park is hosting a couple of music events, the first being on 27th August with the Regatta Shindig. Double-take time…there is, believe it or not, a tribute band that plays The Wurzel’s music – am I allowed to use their name and the word music in the same sentence? Anyway, The Mangledwurzels will be giving their all, along with The Bad-Knees Blues Band (who are excellent), a Ceilidh and a D.J. Ah, go on, it’ll be fun. Then there’s Regatta Rocks, also in the Marquee, on 29th August, with the New Blues Brother’s Revue. Loved the film, loved the music, even played in a band that did a few covers from the film…can’t go wrong with a bit o’ the brothers. Pricey but worth a go, for sure.

SEPTEMBERIST’S… Not too much out there at the moment, in respect of what’s happening in September, but here’s a couple of things that might tweak your interest.

Devon Open Studios will be running from 8th – 23rd September all over Devon and Somerset. Artists all over the county open up their studios and invite you in to see what they get up to in their solitude.

You can pick up a timetable, and discover who in Dartmouth will be running an open-studio, by popping into the library or the tourist information centre. It’s a really great concept, and you never know what you might discover!

9th – 16th September and murder and mayhem will prevail with the Agatha Christie Festival
