The community magazine for Dartmouth and local villages

The Best Read local publication by far Dear Reader W

elcome to our Regatta issue. Doesn’t it come round quickly? You’ll note we asked local designer, Scott McRoy, to prepare this month’s cover just as he has done these past three Regattas. Again he has done us proud with this latest cover another to keep and cherish.

If you’re new to Dartmouth or picked this issue up whilst on holiday, we hope you’ll find this magazine a perfect illustration of why this is such a wonderful place in which to live, work and play. Interviews with interesting local people, lots of local history, features on successful local businesses and details of plenty of things to do locally.

Notwithstanding the fun of the upcoming Regatta, there’s still much else to keep residents and visitors occupied through August and September. To help you choose, we’ve selected 20 different but we hope rewarding things for the whole family. See the feature on page?

Our interviews with Richard Cooke, the Castle Ferry, local crab fisherman Alan

Steer, Nick Hindmarsh, Ed Capper, Nigel & Marianne Bartram are a perfect example of the range of fascinating and eclectic mix of people that work and live here.

You’ll see various references throughout this issue to videos on our new website

www.bythedart.tv. Please take the time to watch them. We plan to invest more in this website over coming months and will continue to upload new videos and content to it. We hope to make it the perfect and pre-eminent shop window to market Dartmouth to prospective visitors. If you’re a local business that wants a new, more relevant and interesting online alternative for visitor marketing then please get in touch. Enjoy the issue and the summer
