The events will hold at the magnificent Mohamed V Olympic Swimming- Pool Complex, where the 2010 African Swimming Championships were successfully organised, with more than 200 swimmers from 20 countries participating.
Charlene, Princess of Monaco Another event that drew huge attraction in the swimming world in 2011 was the marriage of former South African swimmer Charlene Lynette Wittstock to Albert II, Prince of Monaco on the 1st of July. The couple met for the first time in 2000 at the Mare Nostrum swimming meet in Monaco, but only to be seen together six years later at public func- tions which culminated in a lavish wedding ceremony at the Throne Room in the Prince's Palace. Born in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in 1978, Charlene and her parents relo- cated to South Africa while she was 11 and the family settled there while she grew up to practice swimming. She represented South Africa at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, with her team finishing fifth in the Women's 4x100 m Medley. She retired from competitive swimming in 2007. 2012 Olympics The London 2012 Olympics will be next year’s major event for many Afri- can swimmers, and fans seem can’t wait to see the Games start.
