Letter from the Chairman/CEO
Dear Readers & fans All eyes are on the African Sports landscape as 16 of the best teams in Africa duel it out to be crowned the best team in Africa for the 2012 edition of the African Cup of Nations. We hope you are enjoying the action down in Gabon/ Equatorial Guinea which has been nothing but spectacular till this moment. Some of the teams like both hosts of the event, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea that were not expected to do much are causing a stir as they both won their openers and in fact at this very moment as we go to press Equa- torial Guinea has made it to the quarter finals of the tournament, the very first time ever for them. The opening ceremony was spectacular and it shows the great progress that CAF has made in advancing the sports on the continent. Mr. Issa Hayatou the head of the Federation ought to be commended for his leadership in bringing the body a long way to becoming one of the most respected in the world with the CAF African Footballer of the year Award ceremony which has become one of the best award shows in the world of course with the help of sponsor Globacom of Nigeria and then the successful opening and conduct of the current AFCON event in Gabon/Equatorial Guinea which is ongoing and seems to be living up to its billing. The year is full of great events that you the fans will definitely enjoy watching and of course the next big stop will be the London 2012 Olympic Games and we are here to bring the inside stories and in depth look at what’s going on behind the scenes as African Nations prepare to go for the gold in London. We know you will be rooting for your individual nations and Africa at large and we will make sure we bring you the latest as it happens as we are currently doing with the 2012 AFCON. Don’t forget to tell your family and friends to follow us and supports us especially now that we are a month away from our first Print Issue and once again we are asking that you support us by logging on to our site and subscribing to get your first print edition
