The Costa do Sol Arena in Maputo, Mozambique at the All Africa Games


All Africa Games In September, Costa Do Sol Arena in Maputo, Mozambique hosted the first ever beach volleyball competition at the 10th All Africa Games. The past nine editions of the All Africa Games were all featured indoors, but following the success of the CAVB Beach Volleyball Continental Cup which was a qualifying tournament for the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Or- ganizing Committee of the 2011 All Africa Games (COJA) decided to add the sport to the program for the first time and 15 teams in each gender par- ticipated in the tournament. Still on the All Africa Games, it was an all smiles for Cameroon men’s team and the Algeria women as both grabbed the gold medals in the games fol- lowing their reciprocal victories in the final matches held at the Maxaquene hall in Maputo, Mozambique.


The Cameroonian team had to fight for more than two hours to overpower Algeria’s men team in a stunning encounter to win by 3 sets to 2 (23-25, 25 -22, 25-17, 21-25, 15-11), picking their third gold medal at the Games.
