Mystery Shopper from Sheffield


The mystery shopper visited two agencies in Sheffield on a Monday evening. They then selected a website from the results of a Google search for “Madrid city break” and a company advertising in The Independent


This week’s challenge: The mystery shopper asked for a three-night city break in Madrid, staying in a four-star hotel, for a couple travelling in the second week in September.

thriving city but there are some beautiful parks for tranquillity too. Head for arguably the most pretty, Retiro, which has 130 hectares of woodland.


Budget: £800 Where: Madrid


Where to go: Suggest Plaza de Santa Barbara, Glorieta de Bilbao and Alonso Martinez for bars, pubs, and restaurants. Arguelles and Moncloa are popular with the younger crowd.


Market time: Suggest early ris- ers keen to find a bargain go to El Rastro, a Sunday flea market open from 8am. They’ll find real gems among the clothes, an- tiques, and old photos of Madrid.


Perfect Plaza: Recommend Plaza Mayor for somewhere to enjoy a summer evening with an alfresco meal and sangria. Those on a tight budget should dine elsewhere as prices are steep.
