“This has been driven by both the availability of skilled backhoe loader operators and the nature of the works our customers are carrying out. For example, one of the reasons we needed five tonne compact radius machines on our fleet was due to the tighter site conditions our customers are working in. This refers to both general construction and infrastructure applications.
Operating a fleet of Cat machines from his yard in Cold Meece near Stone in Staffordshire, Fraser headed straight for the Cat 305E2 CR machine in the newly formed demonstration area at the back of the store. After spending some time operating the machine, he opted to purchase two units, bolstering his fleet to over 50 Cat machines.
A few months later, Finning News visited Fraser to find out more about his business and how it’s embracing new technologies, to support its operation.
Fraser: “Over the last few years we have seen a major change in customer demand when it comes to both our operated and hire only offerings. In 1988, we purchased the newly launched Cat 428 backhoe loader, but since this time our fleet has changed. Even though we still run Cat backhoe loaders, we are now seeing much more demand for a wider range of excavators.
