The Soriani & Moser brand is still remembered within the industry, but after Alfeo Moser split from his partner and set up new premises down the road in Ostiglia, Zamperla swooped and formed an exclusive agreement with the factory in Melara. “I like to say we have two customers,” comments Sergio Soriani, “Zamperla and Zamperla USA.”

Soriani’s rides are now sold and marketed under the Zamperla banner, mainly larger constructions such as tower rides (Z-Force, Vertical Swing), swing rides (Discovery), thrill rides like the Energy Storm, Twist & Bounce, Windshear and Sombrero, plus newer constructions like the Endeavour (Enterprise), a 48-seat version of which could be seen under construction during our visit for Six Flags Texas. Zamperla’s headquarters, for the record, are about an hour north in Vincenza, but as that is not part of the Rovigo district, it was not included in the official Meeting della Giostra programme.

What do you believe is the greatest strength of the Italian ride manufacturing industry? There are many strong companies, such as Zamperla and SBF/Visa etc, but I think the Rovigo region in particular helps us be great together because Bergantino is all about entertainment! Although everyone usually makes for himself, sometimes we do collaborate.
How do you compete against manufacturers from China, Czech Republic, Turkey etc? Italy provides quality products; they do not.

How many employees do you have? We currently have no employees. We are father and son – two artisans working together.
What are your top selling products? Music Express 2.0 and our Christmas tree carousel, which we are currently developing into a “2 in 1” ride so our customers can use it the rest of the year.
What makes you different to other manufacturers? We aim to make rides that are different, but also to focus on quality and offer repairs to attractions.

When was your company founded? February 2014, but we have grown up fast. Because we are a young company we are keen to make ourselves known to the world.

Lamborghini Rides
The original of two ride manufacturers in Bergantino bearing the Lamborghini name (owner Luciano Lamborghini is the brother of Alberto over at Park Rides), this company specialises in ornate carousels, swing rides and Ferris Wheels. One of its latest products is the Extreme Swinger (pictured), a trailer-mounted update of on an old classic featuring great speed for a ride of this kind (up to 14rpm). The attraction was built following a request from a customer in England, and has since been built for several other showman and parks. So is it a family ride or a thrill ride? “It’s a thrill ride!” smiles company spokesperson Floriana Mingotti, “but you can operate it at slower speed if you like for younger family members.” Lamborghini does not participate directly in many trade shows, but its high quality products are sold via Fabbri and Technical Park. The company may, however, exhibit at EAS 2016 in Barcelona thanks to the importance of the Southern European market. .
