Ryanair recruits O’Neill as sales and marketing chief Ryanair has appointed Carol Anne O’Neill, a well-known member of the Irish travel trade, as head of sales and marketing. O’Neill joins from tour operator Falcon Holidays, Thomson’s Irish sister company, where she has worked since 1995.

Qatar Airways has 80 A350s on order
World’s first A350 enters service on Qatar Airways’ Frankfurt-Doha route

Qatar Airways launched the world’s first Airbus A350 service this week, but UK passengers will need to fly via Frankfurt to experience the aircraft.
The A350, which has been built
to rival Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner, was due to go into service today (January 15) between Doha and the German financial centre. The flight was sold out. Qatar’s second A350 will also
go into service between Frankfurt and Doha. However, UK passengers will get an option to experience the aircraft if flying to Singapore when Qatar takes delivery of a third A350, which will operate between Doha and Singapore.
The carrier launched its first 787
between Heathrow and Doha but, as yet, has no plans to operate the A350 from Britain. Qatar has 80 A350s on order. It has configured the aircraft with 36 business-class seats, which recline into fully-flat beds, and 247 seats in economy in a three- three-three configuration. The carrier’s A350s will offer Wi-Fi and mobile phone connectivity. Qatar operates six flights a
day to Doha from Heathrow, 10 a week from Manchester and five a week from Edinburgh.

Kenyan carrier launches Nairobi-Entebbe service Kenyan charter carrier Fly-SAX has begun a scheduled service between Nairobi and Entebbe in Uganda. The twice-daily flights, operated by a 50-seat Bombardier jet, launched last Friday.
