James Geary EMW
Commercial law fi rm EMW is delighted to announce the appointment of James Geary as principal and head of its
commercial contracts team. James originally joined EMW as a trainee in 2000 and qualifi ed with the fi rm in 2002. He originally enjoyed a nine-year stay at EMW, before leaving in 2009 to head the in-house legal team at Wastepack. James commented: “It’s great to be back at EMW; this fi rm gave me a terrifi c start in the profession. I’m looking forward to building the presence of the commercial contracts team at EMW’s London offi ce, which will become ever more important as both our offering to the market and our headcount continue to expand. Chairman Ian Morris said: “Bringing James back to EMW to head our commercial contracts team was an easy choice to make. We know just how skilled he is from his fi rst stint with the fi rm and expect him to play a big role as the team grows, both in London and in Milton Keynes.”

appointed a new Steve Calvert NIC Services Group
Steve Calvert has joined NIC as national franchise development manager. Steve has worked with a number
of franchisors. With over 20 years of experience in the UK franchise industry, Steve has worked with a number of franchisors, acquiring a wealth of experience in the recruitment, training, support and mentoring of franchisees in the service industry. In recent years, Steve has successfully completed a full rebranding and repositioning of a well-established franchise operation resulting in increased franchise recruitment and franchisee growth. Steve said: “I am delighted to have joined the NIC team and to bring my 22 years’ franchise experience with me. It is a company that has seen signifi cant growth over the last couple of years with excellent opportunities for its franchisees. The NIC team are passionate about their industry and the level of experience of the senior management is exceptional.”

recruitment manager, Andrew Smith, and new premises coordinator, Martin Bunney, to join the company’s central offi ce team based in Grantham. Andrew, previously a residential property sales franchisee and with a background in property, brings extensive experience to his role, which will drive the recruitment of new franchisees. He said: “I am looking forward to joining the team at Belvoir and helping to take the business forward. We are planning new strategies that will see us making the Belvoir business opportunity available to many more people.” Martin will oversee offi ce refi ts across the expanding network. Martin has signifi cant experience in property development and offi ce refi ts from running his own interior design and refi t business for seven years. He’s already signed off his fi rst new Belvoir offi ce in Ashton. He said: “I am here to help existing franchise owners make the transition to the new brand and I am committed to helping them carry out the refi t with the least disruption and cost. Those franchise owners who have completed the rebranding are all really pleased with the results and have said that it has helped to improve their business.” Belvoir’s director of commercial and franchising, Dorian Gonsalves, said: “Martin and Andrew both have years of experience in the property market and are extremely skilled individuals. We wish them every success for the future.”
Greg Madigan Subway
The Subway brand has announced the appointment of a new area development manager in the UK and
Ireland. Greg Madigan has over a decade of experience with the Subway brand and takes over the responsibility of developing the brand in the UK and Ireland, working with a team of development agents across the territory. Prior to his recent move to the UK, Greg was based in Brisbane, Australia at Subway’s national head offi ce, responsible for store operations nationwide. Before this, he was general manager for the Subway brand’s development offi ce in Sydney. Greg commented: “I’m really excited to be joining the UK and Ireland team, especially at such an important time for the growth of the brand across the region. The team have done a great job in developing the brand to get to 1,800 stores. I see that my job is to help build on this, and facilitate growth not only with individual and multi-unit franchisees looking to develop their own store portfolio, but also with our corporate partners.”
