FREE MARKETING TIPS • Facebook page
With more than 1 billion users, Facebook is the world’s largest social network. It’s FREE and relatively easy to setup your own page when
you know how or someone who does! Creating a Facebook page is not enough, it’s important to make your page stand out from the crowd. The aim is to get users to ‘like’ your page, when you add a post this information is shared with the people who ‘liked’ your page. The more likes, the more exposure of your pedigree herd – it’s amazing how information gets round so fast on Facebook! • Create an email address with your own prefix
Creating your own email address with your name or just simply ‘info’ followed by your prefix adds a touch of professionalism to email communication. For example:
alison@delasheenholsteins.com • Make a personal appearance
Going to shows and sales and being seen out and about, chatting to fellow breeders about bulls, families etc informs other breeders of the up-to-date information. Remember you are your brand! • Press release snippet
Jot a quick note on an email with any news from the herd. This could be regarding a recent classification visit providing an update on any new VG or Excellent cows; bulls or heifers for sale either privately or at your local Club

• Personalised promotional wear • 2 Dover jackets embroidered with your herd prefix • 6 Polo shirts embroidered with your herd prefix
• Personalised business cards (500) or compliments slips (500)
Give out business cards at shows and sales, you never know down the line when you would get a call enquiring from simply giving out a business card! Adding a compliments slip with a cheque or a pedigree certificate adds a touch of professionalism. • Print & design 400 single sided page A5/200 A4 flyers
If you are planning to sell at the Black & White Sale, plan a flyer and where you will distribute it. For example, opportunities to distribute the flyer before the B&W Sale in December would be UK Dairy Day, The Bath & West Dairy Show, Northern Dairy Expo and AgriScot – great opportunities to target the right audience. • Herd show signs – 6-corex
Re-usable corrugated plastic signs can be designed in your herd colours, logo, prefix and website and create a professional identity at shows and sales to highlight the show or sale animal.
