Screen Media: Polydex®
& Rubberdex®
Polydeck Screen Corporation
Polydex® represents our line of modular polyurethane screen media. Polyurethane offers the most options, not only in terms of screen openings, but also in the integration of performance enhancing features like dams, restricted flow bars, skid bars, and deflectors. These features are not glued on but actually molded into, and a part of the panel itself (see page 6). Poly panels are typically the best choice for wet or wash applications. Polyurethane material variations include:
STD - Our most common polyurethane compound, it’s the right choice for most general applications.
85 durometer, Shore A.
Effective between -50º F. (-20º C.) and 150º F. (70º C.).
LD - A softer poly compound for applications that require the screen panel surface to be flexible in order to prevent blinding caused by sticky materials.
65 durometer, Shore A.
FL - A special formulation for applications where microbial action degrades the standard polyurethane structure.
Rubberdex® represents our line of modular rubber screen media. Rubber performs best in dry applications, and typically offers the longest wear life of any screen media material in the most difficult, aggressive scalping applications. Rubber panels are also effective in reducing noise levels by up to 9 decibels when compared to steel media, about a 50% reduction as recorded by the human ear.
PD65 - Our standard rubber compound that is best for high-wear or heavy feed rate applications like scalping.
Effective between -60º F. (-50º C.) and 150º F. (70º C.).
PD40 - Softer “Flexi” rubber that’s proven extremely effective in solving the toughest blinding problems.
Effective between -40º F. (-40º C.) and 150º F. (70º C.).
What is “Durometer?”
Durometer is a measure of surface resistivity or the resistance of plastics toward indentation. Polydeck uses the Shore A scale in selecting plastic and rubber compounds for its screen panels. The higher the number, the harder the material.
Flexi Rubber
PD60HT - Used in situations like slag where screen panels are exposed to high temperatures. Effective up to 203º F. (95º C.).
FRDX60 (Ferrodex™) - Special formulation that extends the wear life in certain coarse, wet screening applications. Notable by the red coloration of the rubber panels.
Rubberdex® Trampoline Panel
Utilizing a special blend of our PD40 rubber, trampoline solid panels provide a solution for dry screening applications where material blinding and buildup is a problem. Flexible on top and hollow on the bottom, these panels provide a “blanked off” area which can be used as a discharge lip, to protect an overhead mechanism bolt flange, or to simply block off an area for excessive underflow chute buildup.
