S4 Cygnett implements SAP CRM software

Mobile digital device accessories manufacturer Cygnett is implementing hosted SAP BusinessOne from supply chain IT company BalloonOne for its UK operations. Cygnett will also install SAP CRM soft- ware to connect its sales team with the business system; the field sales reps will be issued with iPads that will provide a mobile platform giving them access to live stock data and the ability to take and place orders in real-time.

Once the system goes live BalloonOne will assist Cygnett with interfacing its ERP with its 3PL ware- house partner using EDI. This will automate the

ordering process and help ship products quicker. The company wants to develop a customer portal that will enable EDI communications with those customers who want to place orders electronically. “There is a lot of potential for various integrations with the ERP software,” says Mark Rogers, general manager UK & Europe for Cygnett. “Not only with our warehouse but also with our customers, many of whom want to interact with us electronically. We’re also excited about using a CRM system that talks directly to the ERP system. We’ll be able to compile orders in real-time and use live stock information when we are out and about with customers, which is a first for this industry. Our investment in the software will help us defend our position in the market and ensure we maintain our lead in provid- ing competitively priced, high quality products backed by the best available customer service. “BalloonOne was recommended by our SAP provider in Australia and we needed a good under- standing of what the software can do for us in the UK. The team has helped us gain that knowledge and they have worked hard to understand our business and how the software will assist us to drive it forward.”

Access launches supply chain division

Access Group has set up a new supply chain solutions (SCS) division to gain further market penetration with its integrated product suite for the manufactur- ing, warehouse management, wholesale and logistics sectors. The business software provider has seen its SCS customer base increase by 12.6% within the past 12 months.

“Access has a very solid proposition within the supply chain arena which has been fur- ther strengthened by the acquisi- tion of Access Delta last year,” comments divisional director for SCS Ian Roper. “The combined WMS and manufacturing solu- tion is enabling our new and existing customers to leverage any investment made in our solu- tions; we’re dedicated to concen- trating our efforts in this space with further strategic acquisi- tions in the pipeline.

“Customers are looking for an integrated, end-to-end ERP solution that includes finance, manufacturing and warehouse management. We are specialists in these areas and have an intri- cate understanding of how busi- nesses can capitalise on their investment in the Access SCS software suite to deliver efficien- cies, growth and increase prof-

itability. Integration is one of our core areas of expertise; it’s some- thing we know we do well, allowing businesses full, real- time visibility across all of their operations. This sets us apart from our competition.”

Access is developing the SCS divisional team to ensure that it continually adds the expertise to support its growing client base. “One of our key strengths is our people; we only select the highest calibre of talent to help implement our solutions, add value from day one and support our customers to deliver on their growth aspirations,” continues Roper. “We’re going to be work- ing even closer with our cus- tomers to make sure that we continue to provide solutions that are the best fit for the market now and in the future. “We believe there’s strength in collaboration with our clients to ensure that forthcoming business requirements are built into our solution ahead of market demand. The new division marks our commitment to serving this sector with the strongest proposi- tion in the marketplace.”

I will take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new editor of MHL. Some of you might remember me as editor of Factory Equipment until 2006 and it is a pleasure to take the reins of this successful title. I look forward to working with you, bringing the latest industry news, technologies and products - and hope to meet many of you over the coming months. With the UKWA reporting expected growth for 2014 in the 3PL sector and investment plans, it must be hoped that other industry sectors will be able to look to the future with similar optimism despite ongoing challenges including increasing fuel and energy prices. As winter beckons, this issue highlights some of the practical steps you can take to conserve energy and keep costs down in warehouse and logistics operations. I wish you all a prosperous and successful 2014.
