Advertorial New Eagle Interlock Series K
irk Key has launched two new styles of integral valve interlocks that fit nearly every type and size of quarter and multi-turn valves. The Eagle Lock Series ensures safety for any potentially dangerous work area, such as power plants and pharmaceutical facilities. The quarter-turn and multi-turn interlocks both seamlessly integrate to the valve body and do not void the valve warranty. The quarter-turn valve Eagle Lock attaches to any type of lever-operated valve, including ball, butterfly and plug valves. The original lever is replaced with a Kirk sliding-lever interlock mechanism, preserving the original characteristics of the valve. The multi- turn Eagle Lock attaches directly to valves including those that are gate, globe and gear-operated. The Eagle Locks are fitted to the valve without requiring a system shut-down, and installation does not compromise or invalidate pressure tests of the host valve. Manufactured entirely of
316 stainless
steel with keyways protected by a gasketed dust cover, the Eagle Lock is built for long-term use in harsh, industrial environments.

New ATEX Certification for FAITH Partial Stroke Testing System
of a dedicated grounding means for the system. The FAITH PST device uses mechanical pins to limit the degree of valve closure, allowing for easy, safe testing of system-critical components such as ESD (Emergency Shut Down) and HIPPS (High Integrity Pressure Protection System) valves without affecting normal online process or operation. There is no risk of test angle overshoot or process interruption, the test can be performed at ‘real’ speed and will always return results. For most cases, the FAITH is suitable for SIL3 applications, with an FMEDA (Failure Modes, Effects and Diagnostic Analysis) assessment carried out by Exida showing 0 Fail Safe Detected, Fail Safe Undetected and Fail Dangerous Detected conditions recorded from the test. The new ATEX certification of the Netherlocks explosion- proof FAITH system is a good step forward in raising the level of applicability of mechanical PST in various process industries, bringing the highest levels of safety to as many environments as possible.

(BOAS) training course, which was undertaken at Spirax Sarco’s Cheltenham UK Steam Technology Centre. BOAS accreditation is recommended in the 2011 BG01 boiler guidance document as the industry best practice for all boiler operators and managers, published by the CEA, SAFed and HSE. The successful delegate was Robert Watkins, Engineering Team Leader at 2 Sisters Food Group, based in South Wales. “Training at Spirax Sarco helps us stay up-to-date with technology advancements and new legislation,” says Mr Watkins. “Not only do Spirax Sarco’s experts and facilities deliver highly professional training, but it was very useful to meet other trainees to learn about their experiences and best practices. “For us, the BOAS course ticks all the right boxes for insurers and the HSE,” Mr Watkins continues. “By looking after your boiler in the form of good maintenance and effective water treatment, you’ll receive both a safety and financial gain.” In recognition of this landmark for the BOAS course, Mr Watkins was invited to the CEA’s David Gunn Memorial Lecture, at the House of Lords. A BOAS certificate only lasts for five years, after which a Refresher course should be taken to retain the accreditation.

sk Santa for AirPouch® this Christmas and join the thousands of businesses worldwide increasing seasonal capacity and avoiding spiraling labour costs. Ultra-reliable AirPouch systems deliver pillows, bubble or tubes that provide long-lasting protection of goods in transit, minimising shipping costs and significantly increasing throughput. AirPouch’s ability to increase throughput is critical; the AirPouch Express 3 delivers 15m of void fill air pillows per minute and, unlike competitor systems, includes a massive 1200 metres of material within a single box of un-inflated pillows, reducing downtime lost to material changeovers.
And knifeless
technology makes AirPouch virtually maintenance- free. The system is packed with features to boost packing speeds; unique EZ-Tear™ perforations, for example, means packers can separate pillow lengths more quickly and with less joint stress. AirPouch pillows, tubes and bubbles are available in the latest GeoTech™ oxo-degradable films -delivering environmentally sensitive void-fill packaging at the touch of a button.

ensorex’s S420 series probes offer an alternative to Strantrol® pH and ORP probes used in swimming pool, industrial, municipal and potable water applications. The S420 series was designed expressly as a direct replacement for existing Strantrol pH and ORP probes. Constructed of durable CPVC, S420 probes offer improved chemical resistance. Additionally, Sensorex uses a higher volume of its proprietary polymer sensor reference gel for longer service life.
S Sensorex’s advanced sensor technology delivers accurate
measurement over a range of 0-14 pH or -1000–1000mV for ORP. The probes are suited to a variety of applications with a temperature range of 0-50°C and a pressure maximum of 100psig. The threaded NPT connection enables easy in line installation or use with existing Strantrol flow cells without modification. Advanced signal shielding reduces noise for more accurate communication with process control systems. Both the pH and ORP probes are available with the option of 30 inch or 10 foot cable lengths for quick integration into existing systems.

t is a compact, metal-bodied safety system that enables the configuration of various safety products including electrical safety gate switches (with or without guard locking), mechanical trapped key interlocks and electrical operator controls, either as separate devices or integrated into one device. Fortress Interlocks offers tGard as a customised product, as standard. It is defined by a range of tGard elements, including safety switches (solenoid and non-solenoid), personnel keys, emergency release, push buttons, estops, indicator lamps and a choice of operating handles for both hinged and sliding guard doors. These elements are simply selected and then assembled into a

robust housing, suitable for mounting onto machine guarding, providing the user with an exact configuration specific to the application.
tGard is quick and easy to install and can be mounted
directly onto a flat surface, doors or extruded aluminium profiles without the need for mounting plates or brackets. It is IP65 as standard and has been designed to be fully compliant with the new machinery safety standards.
