Global Village Joining in the action

Global Village welcomes several new exhibitors this year – some are new to the zone, while others are appearing at WTM for the first time. We meet some of the new recruits

Fox Transfer The pre-booked airport transfer market is a competitive one, but Fox Transfer is growing fast, now taking more than 100,000 bookings per year, after launching in 2006. Fox Transfer is looking to work with online brokers and wholesalers, hotels, travel agents, insurance companies and any other travel-based business that could sell airport transfer services to their clients. “Our foray into the WTM in London is, in part, to establish Fox Transfer as a serious player in the airport transfer market, but also because we know that it is a great opportunity to meet new partners from many sectors of the tourist and business travel industry under one roof,” says managing director Gary Gerami. While it currently operates only in Europe, expansion into north and south America is next on the horizon for Fox, “in time for the World Cup”, it hopes. Find out more on stand GV573.

Pool Safe Pool Safe claims its innovative security device gives holidaymakers peace of mind when spending a day by the pool. The lockable box has a key-pad like a safe, so sun-worshippers can secure their cash, phones, cameras and other valuables while they doze or take a dip. The Pool Safe boxes

TotalStay is proud to have appeared on the Sunday TimesProfit Track 100 table in April of this year, and has big plans for growth. Owner and chief executive Peter Clements says: “I’ve been attending World Travel Market for many years now and I’m exceptionally proud that the company has evolved to such a size that it feels a natural decision to take on full exhibitor status.”

also have a drinks holder and solar- powered charger for phones, and can be rigged up with a call system to attract the attention of waiters and staff. The product is already in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and the company is looking to work with more hotels and cruise ships. “The company is only two years old, and this will be our first WTM,” says chief executive David Berger. “I’ve put two years of research and development into this product and it really is an innovative product.” See the Pool Safe device for yourself on stand GV625.

YTL Hotels When The Gainsborough Bath Spa opens early next year, it will offer the only natural

thermal spa within a hotel in the UK, according to owners YTL Hotels. The hotel company is taking its own stand at WTM for the first time this year, and as well as highlighting the forthcoming UK property, YTL will also be talking about its resorts and spa villages in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Japan and France. Recent additions have been Gaya Island Resort in Borneo and The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur. Meet the team on stand GV655.

TotalStay Also taking its first stand at WTM is accommodation provider TotalStay, which supplies hotels to UK tour operators and travel agents, as well as inbound agents,

TransHotel TransHotel can be found in the Global Village in 2013, after having stands in other zones previously. The accommodation provider works with 78,800 travel agency clients and has more than 20 years’ experience. Its platform also offers flights, car hire, travel insurance, theme park tickets and more. Visit stand GV565 to hear about TransHotel’s Travel Agent Card launched earlier this year to reward its agent partners. “Events such as WTM provide us with a real picture of the sector’s current conditions, client and provider needs, and new trends,” says the company’s chief executive Julio de la Cruz. “It promotes business, but it also allows for building relationships and sharing knowledge – two crucial factors needed to grow our business.”

Steigenberger Hotels Delegates may have met with Steigenberger Hotels on a shared stand with Jaz Hotels previously, but the Frankfurt-based hotel group has its own stand for the first year this year. The portfolio contains 98 hotels in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Egypt and China – including 15 establishments that are under construction or in planning. Recent news includes extensive refurbs at Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof and Steigenberger Parkhotel, Dusseldorf, while Steigenberger Grandhotel, Brussels is a new property, having opened its doors in January. Chief executive Puneet Chhatwal says: “We are in a phase of enormous growth, with great additions in European gateway locations as well as in China. It is the right time to share the transition of a great German hotel company into a global hotel group.”
