QUÉBEC CITY CONVENTION CENTRE convention.qc.ca The first convention center in Canada to offer free wireless, wall-to-wall high- speed Internet access, the Québec City Convention Centre strives to address planners’ concerns with specific solutions, always aiming to be at the forefront of technology trends. The center partners with its AV supplier, AVW-Telav, to provide SocialLive, a new social-network platform that allows attendees, whether they are present or not, to populate a live event by posting text, photos, and video via Twitter, Face- book, and email. The center also fea- tures dynamic digital signage with HD monitors in high-traffic areas to direct attendees, show video, or advertise.

JAVITS CENTER, NEW YORK CITY javitscenter.com The Manhattan convention center, or the “Marketplace for the World,” has undergone both expansion and renova- tion over the past several years, with the installation of the Northeast’s largest green roof scheduled for completion by

the end of this year. Wireless Internet service throughout the facility is a key benefit for planners and exhibitors.

“I love that the building has Inter- net either in your booth or throughout the building,” said Mitchell Merrick, vice president of sales at Jessie Steele Inc., who has been attending and exhibiting at events at Javits Center for 25 years. Additionally, “extra stations to print out boarding passes, the availability to get your [name] badges with ease as you enter, and improved cell-phone recep- tion throughout the building” are all perks that Merrick enjoys at the center.
