Freeman Presentation Management Putting the control in your hands

Freeman Presentation Management — the speaker-management platform used at PCMA Convening Leaders — provides easy organization of electronic materials for train- ing sessions, seminars, and other similar events. With an advanced submission pro- cess via a secure website or completed on site in the speaker-ready room, presentations are easily transferred via the network to the speaker’s assigned meeting room, simplify- ing the process of delivering presentation materials and ensuring greater eficiencies. This past July, Freeman rolled out the latest

update to Presentation Management — part of the Freeman Technology Suite — with upgrades that will make the platform even more useful for planners. “We’re excited, because it builds on an already strong platform

— PCMA uses it every year to manage all the speakers [at Convening Leaders],” said Rich- ard Reid, Freeman’s vice president of digital services. “There are many new features that are going to be exciting for the presenters.” Updated elements in the new edition include a completely redesigned look and feel and separation of the Meeting Room Presenter/ Audience View, which allows presenters to use the Presenter-mode in PowerPoint to see their notes at the lectern. There are also enhanced disclosure-handling capabilities, customizable email notifications, and sup- port for multiple presenters collaborating on a single presentation. Freeman’s newest service offering, Sight-

line, provides even further integration for the event manager, simplifying the experience

IMEX America Going for the green as show expands

Approaching its third year in Las Vegas, IMEX America (Oct. 15–17) is gearing up for an even bigger and better show at the newly renovat- ed Sands Expo — but event organizers are ever mindful to keep show growth in balance with a firm dedication to CSR and sustainability. Last year’s IMEX America show provided

solid CSR benchmark data with the ISO 20121 and APEX/ASTM standards in mind, and fea- tured a highly integrated and dedicated green team from IMEX, the Sands, The Venetian/The Palazzo, and key suppliers facilitated by IMEX sustainability partner MeetGreen. These efforts resulted in 63-percent compliance with the APEX/ASTM Environmentally Sus- tainable Meeting Standards, Level 1 (exclud- ing accommodations data as guidelines were not available from APEX/ASTM at show time). Behind this number are key perfor- mance elements, including rigorous waste

management, diversion and composting, reuse of materials, greener food options, and a strong spirit of community service: • 87.5 percent of exhibit waste from the Sands was diverted from landfills.

• 40 percent of food served at the Sands met sustainability criteria, and 12 metric tons of organics and service waste was composted at the Sands and The Venetian/The Palazzo.

• Buyers and exhibitors got around the expansive show floor on carpeting that was 94-percent reused from previous events.

• 63 staff and volunteer hours were donated to local charities Clean the World, Opportunity Village, and Shade Tree.

In an effort to expand its CSR performance even further this year, IMEX will increase CSR

communications with delegates prior to the show to build excitement and engagement, and also will review all supplier contracts leading up to the show so sustainability goals can be added or changed as needed.
