THERE’Sno doubt that the London-based, but internationally travelled, Jamie Jones is on the verge of blowing up. As part of Hot Natured – alongside Lee Foss, with whom he runs label Hot Creations, Ali Love and Luca C – he’s already dented the UK charts and a forthcoming Hot Natured album will be the beginning of a tour as a band. This is an opportunity to catch him, however, in the environment in which he made his name, rocking clubs and playing late night groovers of unparalleled quality. With a Funktion One soundsystem to accentuate the dark bass and synth work of tracks such as ‘Summertime’ or ‘Rukkus’, plus a preview, no doubt, of his new Hot Natured material, make sure you can say you were there before he was headlining festival stages.

BILLINGthemselves as ‘The originators of daylife and the leaders of nightlife’ in Vegas, the Hard Rock Hotel Pool at the Hardrock Hotel and Casino, and their new Beachlife series, certainly takes some beating. While offering the usual pumped up sounds for pumped up (think muscles and boobies) party goers – and goers and goers and goers - they’ve spread their bookings in an exciting and progressive way.
Already sold out is their evening event featuring Osunlade, Doc Martin and Crazibiza at the Breathe Pool Lounge on Saturday April 27. If you’re in town then though, we’d recommend slapping on the suntan lotion the next day and getting poolside for a rare appearance from French electro rockers Justice, who’ll be repping the Ed Banger sound and no doubt also indulging their love of sunny funk. FOLLOWINGthe suffocating influence of Ultra Music Festival, which flooded Miami with candy ravers, Spring breakers, bro and girls called Molly, Bardot offer the ultimate palette cleanser in the shape of the UK’s Pearson Sound.
Formerly known as Ramadanman, the suspiciously non-Muslim David Kennedy has been helping shape the dubstep and post-dubstep landscape since he was a student in Leeds in the North of England.
One of the brains behind Hessle Audio, alongside Ben UFO and Pangaea, Pearson Sound’s productions are characterized by their sparse polyrhythmic energy, while his DJ sets – as evidenced on his ‘Fabriclive 56’ mix from a couple of years ago – take in everything from raw house to 140bpm grime and early dubstep. Don’t expect any mid-range wobble here. Check his Maurice Donovan guise too for some super jacked up old school house productions.
So if you’re tired of fluro, bare chests and the same four chords played in succession, come check the sound of the underground.
