INDUSTRY NEWS New director to oversee Blue Max Bannerʼs supply chain B

ruce Freeland (right) has taken up a new board role as operations director at Blue Max Banner, a leading UK supplier of

schoolwear, sportswear, workwear and leisurewear to the trade.

The new position has been created to improve and enhance the operational procedures at the Blue Max Banner Group. Bruce will oversee the complete supply chain, from the moment an order leaves the Far East to its successful delivery to the customer. The position assumes responsibility across several departments including planning, customer service, warehousing and distribution. Bruceʼs most recent role was as general manager operations at Roper Rhodes, a £36 million turnover business specialising in the import of bathroom furniture from the Far East

New service from Mantex

M

antex Embroideries have introduced a new service which has been very successful with the major schoolwear companies.

Blazers can be grosgrain ribbon braided in the colour of your choice and almost any colour can be added to the edges, collar, lapels, pockets and sleeves, to customersʼ specifications. The braiding is

professionally stitched to the blazer to produce a high quality finish. The minimum order quantity for braiding is 20 garments. Mantex also offers

embroidery to the left breast pocket using the zip access within the blazers. If this is not available Mantex can offer a pocket conversion, where they use the spare pocket, embroider, re-shape and sew back onto the blazer.

Blazers are steamed after production to eliminate ring marks.

Mantex have also increased production capacity with five new machines, in a staged delivery from January through to March. Production will be increased to 65,000 per week. Mantex predicts that 2013 will be a significant year in the industry as a whole, according to managing director, Perminder Grewall. n For information call Mantex on 01902 425655.

to the UK retail trade. Blue Max Bannerʼs MD, Nigel Plenderleith, who created the new role for the business explains: “Blue Max Banner is a business that has grown quickly over the past few years, largely through acquisition. Keeping up with the inevitable changes and issues imposed by fast paced growth has been a real challenge. “We believe that this new role, which is entirely focussed on the supply chain, will help us to realise our goals of getting our customer service levels back to where they should be. “Bruce is a great fit for the job, as in his most recent role, he has been managing a supply chain that bears many close similarities to ours.” n For more information visit www.bluemaxbanner.co.uk
