SWAWPCS Early Summer In-Hand Show Results

After all the changes made to the SWAWPCS Early Summer Show we can report that the In-Hand part which was re-located to Newhall Equestrian Centre went ahead in glorious sunshine and was well supported considering the changes.

Ralph Russell and Sandra Seward, supported by Stuart Franklin had some lovely ponies forward for judging and kept them all busy for the morning.

Section A Champion Gladsdale Rhianne, a very pretty dun mare was a stirling example of a Section A who kept the judges eye right the way through taking her on to gain Overall Supreme of Show.

Best supported Section were the B’s with a high standard forward. Overall Champion B was the lovely Millcroft Gilda.

Section C Champion was Robert Curtis’s popular west country stallion Bodwenarth Candyman who also went on to receive the NPS Silver Medal and Reserve Supreme Overall.

Section D Championship was won by Mary Anne McCrow’s lovely black Cob Barrowhill Excalibur who also went on to take the Gelding Championship.

Part-Bred’s although thin on the ground were not short on quality – Champion went to Sophie

Bridges Large Part-Bred Lapis Lazuli .

Mrs Seward enjoyed judging the mixed Home Produced Classes which were NPS qualifiers and again both sections laced with quality – Champion was a beautiful example of a Fell “Predellans Danny Boy” who also went on to be Reserve Silver Medal Champion.

Overall Youngstock Champion brought forward a lot of quality and the eventual winner was the yearling Section C Terrano Jazz owned by Sue Smith a very typey example of its breed.

Efforts made by the Committee to run these two shows back to back to enable Members and Non Members to Show their horses undersaddle and in-hand have been immense. Thanks must go to Paul Davis for his work, time and commitment to the show, Nicki McGuire who as always gives her all into ensuring that everything runs smoothly and for doing a bulk of the work ensuring that the in-hand show took place also supporting the show by competing (don’t know how you do it Nicki !!!) and her lovely husband Tony, who supplied the most delicious lunch for all the Judges and workers, even the vegetarian lunch was amazing!! (I think Tony should be hired for all the shows!!!!) A big thank you to Mr Ralph Russell , Mr and Mrs Seward and also Mr Stuart Franklin. On behalf of the organisers, competitors and spectators, we can safely say that the day went off well and was enjoyed by all.
