ALEXANDRA KENNEDY POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION: DANCE TEACHING
What was your background before starting your studies with the RAD? From an early age I have thrived upon the thrill of performing. After studying for my A-Levels, I continued my studies at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance where I completed the foundation degree. It was here that my passion grew further for contemporary dance and even more so whilst completing my degree at Laban in Dance Theatre. It is my passion for dance which has always made me want to teach and inspire others.
How have the professional teaching placements on the programme helped you? The teachers at the RAD are fantastic mentors and really inspirational teachers. This is echoed through the placement schools which have offered me numerous positive experiences. These placement schools have really fed my passion for teaching and have motivated me to become an outstanding dance teacher.
What do you hope to do once you graduate? On completion of this programme I hope to become a dance teacher who makes a real contribution to a dynamic and vibrant dance department. In the future I hope to become head of department and continue to inspire dance students, as well as becoming a mentor myself for other trainee teachers.
