Adam Levine European Sales Director, Digital Realty Trust

QFavourite book?

A American Tabloid by James Elroy. A highly plausible, fictionalised account of the events leading up to the assassination of JFK. Brilliantly written and inhabited by some of the most unsavoury characters in literature.

QFavourite food?

A Freshly baked bread and melting, salted butter

QFavourite film?

A The Big Lebowski. It has Credence Clearwater Revival and Bob Dylan on the soundtrack, Ben Gazara playing an aging adult entertainment impresario, John Goodman as a Jewish-convert Vietnam veteran and bowling. The perfect film!

QFavourite music?

A I listen to quite a lot of music. A snapshot would be The Grateful Dead; Wilco; Gillian Welch; Augustus Pablo; McCoy Tyner; Ahmad Jamal; Pretty much anything out of New Orleans in the last 100 years; Big Star; Fela Kuti; Elvis Costello.

QDream holiday?

A I go to New Orleans Jazz Fest every year in April and every summer my family and I go to the Ile de Ré, off the Atlantic coast of France. Those are pretty much my dream holidays.

QGoing out or staying in?

A Going out. I am on a mission to single- handedly ensure the financial success of selected restaurants and music venues in London.

QFavourite sport and sports personality?

A Cricket and Graeme Swann. Swanny’s Ashes Diary, which was the video diary he posted on-line sporadically during the last VICTORIOUS ASHES TOUR in Australia was pure comic genius.

QFavourite TV programme?

A Trémé. This is the show by David Simon, who wrote The Wire, about life in New Orleans post Katrina. You can taste the red beans rice cooking when you watch this show.

QFavourite comedian?

A Bill Hicks. Anybody reading this that doesn’t know who he is and is tempted to go check him out, please make sure that the kids are well out of earshot .

QSocial networking – good or bad?

A Good for Digital Realty as it drives new content and therefore additional data centre demand.

QCloud – good or bad?

A Getting there. Companies like SoftLayer and Rackspace are starting to unlock the potential of the public cloud beyond

50 www.dcsuk.info I February 2012

the usual SaaS applications that have typically been at the forefont of cloud thus far.

QYour job – the good?

A I have the privilege of working with some of the finest minds in the data centre industry.

QYour job – the bad? A Too many hours logged on Eurostar.

QOne ICT company to watch? A Kelway.

QFavourite business saying?

A I always loved William Swanson’s (CEO Raytheon) ‘Unwritten Rules of Management’. My favourite one is probably ‘A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter is not a nice person.’

QWhat’s so good about your company?

A Quite simply, we have built more data centres, designed more data centres and operate more data centres than any other wholesale data centre colocation operator in the world. This means that when we tell our customers we will deliver for them, we have the track record to back that up.
