The Bat is back as Mattel unveils its biggest Batman portfolio with toys to suit every age. With the movie Batman: The Dark Knight Rises hitting cinemas in July, Mattel’s movie-based toy range aimed at older boys will bring the film to life like never before. For boys aged four and over, there’s


the Stealth Strike range based on TV series Batman: The Brave And The Bold, and new for autumn, the Power Attack assortment of action figures, vehicles and accessories. Young Batman fans will be catered for with a raft of pre-school toys from chunky Fisher-Price vehicles to the super-size Imaginext Batcave. Disney Pixar’s Cars had ‘a sensational 2011’. New products for this year include Cars Quick Changers – the 1:55 scale vehicles that take scene recreation to the next level – and the Crash ‘n’ Change Speedway Trackset with Quick Change activation points. There’s also a new line for autumn featuring ball-bearing technology that sees characters racing all over the track just like the movie. The award-winning Secret Spy Attack Finn McMissile will also make a return.


The buzz about Toy Story continues with an innovative Colour Splash range of two-inch buddy figures and the Colour Splash Slide ‘n’ Surprise Playground, as well as a new Buzz Lightyear with lights, sounds and action.


Also new for spring is the WWE


FlexForce Lightning Figure Assortment and WWE Tornado Takedown Ring – as well as new additions to the WWE Rumblers line with the WWE Money In The Bank Carrying Case.


GAMES


An extensive brand campaign will support the world of Mattel Games this year. An array of new launches will join the portfolio of kids’ games and family favourites like Scrabble, Pictionary and Uno. New additions include card game Phase 10 and a raft of app-based games following the success of Angry Birds: Knock On Wood. Fruit Ninja will be brought to 3D life whilst there’s a new avian adventure for Angry Birds with Angry Birds: On Thin Ice.

moments. Communication will include the Joy of Learning emotional messaging streamlined over all platforms including TV, press and online. Laugh & Learn remains in the spotlight all year, and joining the new Apptivity Case, the Click ‘n’ Learn Remote solves the problem of sticky remote controls with a baby-friendly version. Say Please Tea Set and Animal Pals Book continue to be supported throughout the year, and the collection will get greater in the autumn with further additions. TV support in spring focuses on classic products as well as new items including Puppy’s Piano and the Click ‘n’ Learn Remote. The Little People are on the move all


year with the Wheelies collection. Key play-set in the range, the Stand ‘n’ Play Rampway continues to remain a focus in spring with a new makeover for the second half of the year. For autumn, the Play ‘n’ Stow Garage combines toddler play with a great storage solution.


Imaginext continues and autumn will see Mattel launch another collection for the line-up. A full marketing


programme including TV and sponsorship will support the range. It’s full steam ahead throughout 2012 for the continued roll-out of Fisher-Price’s Thomas & Friends collection, with new engines and play- sets for spring and autumn tying into the Blue Mountain Mystery DVD. Following its launch on Cbeebies and a subsequent toy range, Octonauts has major TV support for the show, new characters and plush join the line- up supported by a full marketing campaign.


Hot on the heels of Dance Star


Mickey, there are even bigger beats set for autumn, with a major launch in the pipeline. And watch the news for more introductions joining the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Minnie Mouse collections, with lots of support for the lady in pink.


2012 will also see the toy launch for Disney property Jake and the Netherland Pirates. The range includes figures, plush, play-sets and role-play. Evergreen Dora the Explorer receives


support for spring with the new Dive and Swim Mermaid Dora and more new additions coming this autumn.
