In Hickory, N.C., the Lenoir-Rhyne University Playmakers presented Amina S. McIntyre’s In the Garden Sept. 28-Oct. 2. The play is a creative retelling of the Song of Solomon. McIntyre is a playwright with a mas- ter in fine arts in creative writing and a master of arts in African-American and African diaspora studies. Davis has worked as a marine archaeologist on projects in the U.S., Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus, Ukraine and the Republic of Georgia. His interest in the field began when he served as a U.S. Navy hardhat diver aboard submarine rescue ships.
