Letters to the Editor Q: Why do you love the NCGA?

A: I love the NCGA as each handicap update reminds me I need to play more golf! When I do play golf your newsletters remind me I should be taking advantage of your free lessons especially at Poppy Hills so a good time on the course can follow! Lastly, because in the pro shop my membership affords me a sweeter deal on some wonderful courses. Thanks for all the inspiration! Rhonda Mohr

A: The NCGA is the greatest because they run the NCGA junior golf program, by far the best in the land. I played in it 30 years ago and still have great friends from those tournaments. Not to mention the unbeliev- able golf courses you get to play. Here’s to the

NCGA and all the volunteers that make junior golf great in North California! Neil Higgins

A: The NCGA allows me and my brother

to genuinely learn the game of golf, be a part of every aspect and feel a small portion of excitement like in the case of our qualifi er at Sum- mitpointe which compares to a PGA event. It has pushed us to practice for hours on end and put golf as a priority as of late. I’ve never been

involved in improving our game and enjoying the concept of meet- ing other players who share similar feelings towards the game. Before joining the NCGA last year, golf was something that was there before only if we decided to get around to it when we had nothing else to do. Carl Parker

A: In the crazy, fast- paced life we live, the NCGA gives me the chance to spend at least four hours every weekend with just my 16-year-old son..the value of that time? Absolutely priceless! Tim Hill

SPLENDOR IN SACRAMENTO A short note to let you

how much I enjoyed reading the article about Billy Bell. William Park Bell was my grandfather’s (John Alvin Bell) brother and William Francis Bell was my father’s (James Harlan Bell) cousin. The clan grew up in western Pennsylvania south- west of Pittsburgh.

Ralph Bell, my uncle, is 90

years of age and continues to live on the family farm. I am sending him this article and I know he will enjoy it as much as I have. If, by chance, your offi ce

knows of anyone who may be

able to point me in the direc- tion of Billy’s descendants, I would be most grateful. Please thank Ron Salsig

and the Old Timer from North Ridge who helped with the article. William J. (Jim) Bell

COURSE DIRECTORY Thank you for providing

such a comprehensive golf course directory. I keep my magazine in my car and it helps me continually fi nd the fi rst tee. I have come to heav- ily rely on the back portion of the January edition for golf knowledge. Appreciate all the work that goes into keeping the information correct and current. Thanks. John Alvin
