Andrews Kurth bags Sony Ericsson litigator
Andrews Kurth LLP has hired Sony Ericsson deputy general counsel James Mahon as a partner in its Washington, DC office.
James Mahon Mahon joined at the end of
February, and will work in Andrews Kurth’s intellectual property section. As well as deputy general counsel, Mahon served as head of global litigation group at Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications.
“As general counsel, I was able to work with numerous law firms from across the globe,” said Mahon. “Te IP team at Andrews Kurth, and indeed the entire firm, has an outstanding reputation, and I look forward to helping continue to build on that tradition.”
Kevin Rivette joins Tessera board
Tessera Technologies, a micro- electronics, imaging and optics company, has appointed Kevin Rivette to its board of directors.

Rivette, a former chairman of the United States Patent
and Trademark Office Public Patent Advisory Committee, currently works as managing partner of 3LP Advisors LLC, an intellectual property strategy and transaction services provider.
Rivette has also worked for computer company IBM, where he was vice president of IP strategy, and for Boston Consulting, a global management consultancy.
“I am joining the board of directors at an exciting time for Tessera,” said Rivette. “It is a strong company whose leading-edge IP assets have extensive market potential, and I’m looking forward to assisting Tessera in further developing its vision, strategy and growth opportunities.”

Mahon has worked in a range of sectors, representing companies in computer soſtware and hardware, medical device and investment industries, among others. A patent specialist, he also has mediation experience, and has worked on copyright and unfair competition cases.
