MOVERS AND SHAKERS Jones Day
Former Howrey trademark lawyers have moved to Jones Day LLP’s Washington, DC office, the firm announced in March.
John Froemming is a trial lawyer and was head of Howrey’s trademark practice group, and Susan Kayser was a trademark litigator. Te pair join Jones Day as partners.
Greg Shumaker, the partner leading Jones Day’s Washington office, said: “Tey add great depth to our trademark, copyright and false advertising capabilities in Washington.”
Henry Bunsow Denise De Mory Brian Smith
Henry Bunsow, Denise De Mory and Brian Smith move to the firm as partners and will be based in its San Francisco office.
Bunsow will serve as co-chair of Dewey & LeBoeuf’s IP litigation practice.
William Rooklidge Frank Cote
Jones Day has also added William Rooklidge and Frank Cote from Howrey, the firm announced in February. Te pair boosts its IP practice in Irvine, California.
Rooklidge previously worked as the co-chair of Howrey’s global IP practice. Tey both join as partners.
“Rooklidge and Cote’s arrival not only provides additional strength to our IP practice, it also demonstrates the type of lawyers that want to be part of our growing success in California,” said Joe Sims, the Jones Day partner responsible for co-ordinating the firm’s activities in California.
Perkins Coie
Four patent litigation partners and a patent procurement partner have joined Perkins Coie LLP, the firm announced in March. Te former Howrey lawyers join as partners in Perkins Coie’s Palo Alto office.
James Valentine, Daniel Shvodian, Christopher Kelley and James Pistorino will be a part of the firm’s patent litigation practice.

Viola Kung has joined the firm’s patent procurement practice. Kung focuses her practice on patent prosecution and patent counselling in the chemical, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, biotechnology and small molecule sectors.

Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr
Two former Howrey IP litigators have arrived in Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP’s Palo Alto office, the firm has announced.
Jochen Herr Dewey & LeBoeuf
Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP has recruited an IP litigation team from Howrey, the firm announced in January.
Joachim Feldges Thomas Adam Christoph Lenz
Joachim Feldges and Tomas Adam will be based in Munich. Christoph Lenz and Jochen Herr will be based in Dusseldorf.
Feldges will manage Field Fisher Waterhouse’s two new offices as
well as its existing office in Hamburg.
Te team works in patent litigation matters in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and telecommunications.

Robert Galvin
Lloyd Day joined Wilmer Hale as a partner in March. Robert Galvin joined as a partner in February.
Both IP litigators were partners at Howrey. Tey were also founding partners of Day Casebeer Madrid & Batchelder LLP, which merged with Howrey in 2009.
Commenting on Day’s arrival, William Lee, co-managing partner of Wilmer Hale, said: “I’ve known Day as a friend, a colleague and adversary for two decades. He is a first-rate IP litigator with exceptional trial skills. We are thrilled that he has joined our team.”
Field Fisher Waterhouse
In Europe, Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP plans to expand its Germany presence with two new offices in Munich and Dusseldorf.
Te firm expects the new offices to open in April with four partners and four associates arriving from Howrey.

Mark Hodgson
Patent litigator Mark Hodgson joins the firm as a partner. He specialises in advising pharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology companies on intellectual property, regulatory, product liability and
parallel import matters.
Nick Rose, a partner and head of the IP & technology dispute resolution practice at Field Fisher Waterhouse, said: “Hodgson will be a significant addition to the team, enabling us to expand our patent litigation capability to match our expertise in other areas of IP such as trademarks.”
Howrey lawyers have moved to a selection of other firms as it has wound down its operations.
