GAGE BILT – Made in America
GAGE BILT is a blind rivet, blind bolt and lock bolt tool manufacturer located in Clinton Township, MI, USA. It has been manufacturing tools since 1956.
and hydraulic tools and components are ‘Made in America’. “If you need a tool to install a 3.175mm (⅛ inch) Cherry Max
rivet for an aircraft wing or a 22.225mm (⅞ inch) C50L high strength lock bolt for a rail car GAGE BILT is at your service,” says Joe Butvin, GAGE BILT’s new director of sales and marketing. GAGE BILT provides customers with solutions to their specific
blind rivet and lock bolt application needs. “If we can not alter an existing tool, nose assembly or power pack then we have the ability to design, develop, test and manufacture a tool that will. Over the years we have designed and manufactured hundreds of special nose assemblies to fit specific customer applications. Chances are we have the right design on the shelf,” adds Joe. Short lead times at GAGE BILT are a big advantage to
customers since the company stocks machined castings that are ready to be assembles using many common parts. Typically, tool lead times are quoted at two to three weeks. GAGE BILT points out that its blind rivet tools feature:
Award winning LineWrench
SMC Corporation Ltd, a developer of unique tools based in County Durham, UK, says that its award winning LineWrench uses revolutionary, patented technology which is QA approved and accepted by the German automotive industry.
he LineWrench has a unique ratcheting action, which SMC say is ideal for “in-line” applications. The LineWrench can be opened and
closed to fit around the nut completely, only uses the flanks, and does not require intact points. As well as being
accepted by the automotive industry the LineWrench is also available for other applications such as plumbing, aeronautical, hydraulic, gas and welding.
nitially a gauge, nose assembly and tool supplier to Huck Manufacturing, the company launched its own GAGE BILT brand in 1979 servicing global industrial and aerospace markets. GAGE BILT is proud to say that all of its pneumatic
• Negative air pressure trigger to reduce the finger force needed to cycle the tool.
• The air return piston versus the common spring return piston of competing tools cushion the shock load associated with pin break.
• The quality of the machining and the component parts results in less hydraulic fluid loss through seals. In some cases GAGE BILT tools can cycle 100,000 times before priming is required.
Unique to GAGE BILT are a series of split tools. “With a split
tool we separate the heavy air piston from the handle with an umbilical hydraulic and pneumatic line so the operator is only holding a lightweight pistol or inline tool. In the case of our GBP713D tool it pulls 20,017 Newtons (4,500 pounds) enabling it to install 6.35mm (¼ inch) structural rivets and lock bolts and weighs in at 6.5 pounds. Using the split tool pistol version, the operator is holding a 2.5 pound tool. That is a serious ergonomic advantage that can be sold,” explains Joe.

T 144 Fastener + Fixing Magazine • Issue 68 March 2011
he RIV916B can be used to place inserts from M8 to M16 and it is entirely automatic and extremely easy to handle. Cylinder stroke range is 1mm to 15mm and it generates 6 bar (or 80,000N) power. The RIV 916B weighs in at 36kg.
“At Rivit we are continuously looking to innovate and introduce new
tools. We invite all our customers to enjoy the brand new RIV916B whilst we continue to develop leading tools.”
