Manufacturing future gets an award

Converting and packaging equipment manufacturers would not be the first category of industrial company that came to mind when it comes to entering award contests for manufacturing excellence. There are


quite a few packaging award schemes mainly acknowledging excellence in the end product or on the visible results of all the behind-the-scenes design developments in machine design that underpin the business. But there may be one award that such, often unsung, companies ought to consider. Manufacturers can show what they’re made of by entering the 2011 EEF Manufacturing Future Awards (www.eef.org.uk/awards). In the 2010 national awards Blackburn-based Accrol Papers, manufacturer of toilet and tissue paper, won The Business Growth Award, sponsored by Westfield Health, after achieving substantial growth following its £4m investment in new technology.

The Future Manufacturing Awards will be judged in six regions across the UK throughout September, and Santander Corporate Banking will announce regional winners at celebration events sponsored, in November. Regional winners in each category will then compete for the national awards at a prestigious national ceremony in London in January 2012.
