When Hurricane Ike struck Galveston, Texas in 2008, Maricela and her family lost everything – including their home. To make matters worse, Maricela lost her job.
But she didn’t give up. With a dream of a fresh start and a new career, Maricela enrolled in the Medical Administrative Assistant program at Everest Institute, part of the post-secondary education network of Corinthian Colleges.
In the school’s supportive, hands-on learning environment, Maricela thrived. As part of her education, she was placed in an internship in a medical office where she was later hired. Now Maricela is making a difference – for her family, her employer, and her community.
