Spa Installation Peaceful Pampering
Waldorf Astoria resort in Orlando, Florida, delivers a peaceful respite from the theme parks that abound. York, contemporizing it to appeal to the market. She chose neutral tones throughout to give it a posh sophistication. The spa lobby and main hallways feature tan and white marble that forms undulating waves. Two exquisitely curved Randolph & Hein sofas flank a glass and metal coffee table by Eric Brand on the side of the room offering guests a place to wait after checking in. A large-scale, backlit digital photograph of a flower with a pink center adds drama and a pop of color, and tasteful displays of Guerlain products line the walls. Guests will notice as they enter the spa that the air is perfumed with L’instant de Guerlain, a soft blend of sweet spice and orange flower, adding to the full sensory experience. Just beyond the lobby is a small vanity area that features sconces
and ivory wallpaper with a subtle pattern created using glass beads by Ulf Moritz. The next area to come into view is the full-service sa- lon with private, curtained manicure and pedicure stations made from dark wood. Each booth features a padded bench with tables and tubs that slide out when needed. The concealed tubs and tables give the sa- lon a refined, uncluttered appearance. Feinberg designed the salon to match the style of the spa and selected wall covering that is glamorous and sparkles, “like sugar.” The 24,000-square-foot, two-level spa features separate bath and
lounge areas for men and women, 21 treatment rooms and a state-of- the-art 4,000-square-foot fitness center. Feinberg chose pale rose and white tile for an elegant feel in the women’s bath area and dark brown and white tile for a sophisticated air in the men’s bath area, accenting both with tumbled stone mosaic. The bath and locker room area leads to the wet area, which includes a Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. The walls are a muted putty color and coordinates with the dark brown wicker chaise lounges. A corner garden full of succulent plants sits behind the Jacuzzi and adds a touch of color to the room. The large window allows plenty of natural light into the room and offers a great view of the golf course.
