The University of Maryland, College Park seeks a Crew Supervisor for the Special Services unit in Facilities Management that provides support for campus special events (Commencement, Maryland Day, etc.) and office/lab moves. The Crew Supervisor will supervise event set ups, timed deliveries, set up and breakdown tables, chairs, podiums, decorations, and other items used at more than 500 special events per year. This position also manages office moves, including minor assembly/construction of furniture and other activities in support of the unit. The Supervisor also handles personnel issues such as performance management and progressive discipline.
Standard work hours are M-F, 7:30AM-4:00PM, but this position requires the ability to work overtime on evenings and weekends to accommodate the campus events schedule. The Supervisor position is Essential and subject to a 24-hr day, 7 day-week span of operation. This position is Non-Exempt and is eligible for paid overtime.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A HS diploma or equivalent; 7 years’ experience in the field including 4 years in a lead or supervisory capacity; a valid driver’s license with fewer than 6 points; forklift operator’s license or the ability to obtain licensure as a condition of passing probation are essential. Good oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills (e-mail, timecard/database entry) are required. Prior experience with campus/university events is a plus.
