director’S REPORT

working with other agencies at our two premises in Middle abbey street. We would like to extend our thanks to the management and staff of coolmine tc, the access housing unit, clancy nightshelter, cdvec, safetynet primary care for homeless people, Ballyfermot star, Finglas addiction support team and the deora project for their support during 2008 & 2009.

this mixture of skilled intervention and creative joined up working has led to good outcomes for many of the people who used our services during 2008 & 2009. the pragmatic promotion of a continuum of care has been received well by all of ana Liffey’s stakeholders, and we have sought to share any learning we have acquired over this period. We remain committed to working in partnership with all sectors to provide opportunities to our client group right across the continuum of care.

in 2008 the ana Liffey acquired the progression routes initiative from the saoL project. the transition between the organisations went smoothly and progression routes is now a fully integrated part of ana Liffey. since

moving over to the ana Liffey, progression routes has developed strategically and increased in size. this unique 'drug policy implementation support service' works with a significant number of other drug services to support the improvement of services on a peer-to-peer basis.

so much has happened in 2008 & 2009; i hope that this report gives a sense of the professionalism, hard work and dedication of all those people involved in the work of the ana Liffey drug project.

the future is uncertain, due to those external factors i mentioned earlier. however, we are fully committed to establishing innovative ways of working to ensure that we continue to support those people that present themselves to our services on a daily basis.

i look forward to continuing to work with the council of Management, the team of the ana Liffey and our partners into the future to create new and improved opportunities for people who are affected by problem substance use in ireland.
