the environment. It can be reloaded in under 60 seconds using compressed gas. T e only recurring costs are for end caps (burst disks) and pull rings, which run about $5 per set. T e body features a blue wraparound label to clearly identify it as a training device. T e Low Roll Training Simulator is sold in a complete starter kit that contains two bod- ies, a fi lling station that includes a tank and regulator, 16 end caps and pull rings, and two replacement fuze handles. An empty fi lling sta- tion is included to comply with DOT regula- tions. It may be fi lled at any paintball store. T e tank will refi ll approximately 200 bodies. Replacement parts are sold separately. T e Low Roll Training Simulator is the fi rst non-pyrotechnic fl ash-bang training device that was developed specifi cally for law enforcement and military training applications. It proved 100 percent reliable in our testing.
The 4-gram Training Reload The Distraction Device 4-gram Training Reload employs a M201A1 type fuze that is designed for use with a standard Distraction Device reloadable steel body. It is available ei- ther with or without a secondary safety clip. T e reload contains a reduced charge con-
sisting of 4 grams of fl ash powder and produces a medium report and fl ash—less than 175 db at 5 feet and less than 6-8 million candelas and a short heat duration. It is for use in training en- vironments where the full eff ect of the standard operational 12-gram charge is not desired. Cost is similar to a standard reload. T e Distraction Device 4-gram Training Reload is regulated by the BATFE.
Defense Technology also makes a 4-gram Command Initiated Reload with Thermo Tube (shock tube) for use with its standard Distraction Device reloadable steel bodies. It is designed to be initiated on command without any delay. It is well suited for staging and bang pole operations. T e 4-gram Command Initi- ated Reload is regulated by the BATFE. In addition to their training applications, the Distraction Device 4-gram Training Re- load and the 4-gram Command Initiated Re- load with T ermo Tube may also be employed operationally in those tactical scenarios where a reduced charge is desirable. Realistic fl ash-bang training has never been more aff ordable. Today’s fl ash-bang training options, such as the Defense Technology Low Roll training devices, allow teams to train more often, in more places, and with much greater
safety than has been the case in the past.
