As with the company’s Trifecta system, three vital components are provided on the interior of the shield: stationary handle; thick, high-density foam pad; and unique Velcro forearm strap attachment system. T e cutting-edge system is composed of hybrid composite material and weighs in at approximately 18 pounds. T e shield mea- sures 24”x36” with viewport. T e shield is available with or without viewport, LED light with strobe (900 lumens), and trans- port bag. T e Phalanx is certifi ed to meet special- threat rounds including: 44 Magnum 240- grain lead SWC; 9mm 124-grain FMJ; 357 SIG 125-grain JHP; 7.62x25mm Tokarev 95-grain FMJ; and 5.7x28mm 27-grain SS195 HP projectiles.
Venture Ballistic Composites
www.venture-ballistics.com T e mission of Venture Ballistic Com- posites Inc. (VBC) is simple: design and produce aff ordable and extreme ballistic shields for the brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day. VBC has produced a wide range of custom bal- listic shields for ‘mission-specifi c’ tactical requirements. VBC clients include the Se- cret Service, Marshal Service, and numer- ous sheriff and police department SWAT teams across the U.S.
Working with law enforcement agen- cies across the nation, they have established ‘a shield in every car’ program. T e high cost of ballistic shield protection has kept

cies from purchasing this essential piece of tactical equipment. Now agencies can purchase shields on an annual or bi-annual basis at a pre-arranged price. “Aff ordability is the result of innovative new technologies that simplify production without sacrifi cing performance.” T e ROBO Ballistic Shield is the work- horse of the Venture Ballistic lineup. T e shield’s dimensions are 20”x 36”, with a 4.5”x10” replaceable viewport. It off ers an optional 1000-lumen LED light with a sim- ple on/off push button switch located in the center of the handle for ease of operation. T e shield is off ered in both NIJ Level
III (rifl e) at 35 pounds and Level IIIA (handgun) at 16 pounds. T e radical de- sign aids in the performance of the shield’s primary function as a dynamic entry shield, but works well on high-risk approaches, barricaded subjects, and slow methodical searches. T e shield’s sides are relieved, cuff ed (side of shield arm cutouts) to en- hance target accusation when aiming through the viewport, and are tapered at the bottom for better clearance through doorways and tight places. It comes with a seven-year warranty, and is off ered in green, black, or desert sand. T e Venture Active Shooter Ballistic Shield (in Level III and Level IIIA) lineup of shields was created in response to an all-too-common and disturbing trend of heavily armed assailants actively engaging unarmed civilian targets in schools, shop- ping centers, and places of employment. T e AS line off ers the fi rst responding of- fi cer a lightweight, portable ballistic panel in either NIJ Level III or IIIA. T e shields come in 16”x 20” and 16”x 28”, and range in weight from 6 to 15 pounds depending on shield size and threat level.
S THE VENTURE BALLISTIC COMPOSITES ACTIVE SHOOTER LINEUP OF SHIELDS WAS CREATED IN RESPONSE TO AN ALL TOO COMMON AND DISTURBING TREND OF HEAVILY ARMED ASSAILANTS ACTIVELY ENGAGING UNARMED CIVILIAN TARGETS IN SCHOOLS, SHOPPING CENTERS, AND PLACES OF EMPLOYMENT.
Venture Ballistics will soon be off ering a rugged ballistic nylon cover for the NIJ Level IIIA 16”x 28” version that will have a plate pocket and MOLLE-style front face, allowing the user to upgrade the shield with a 10”x 17” Level III plate, extra magazines, and an optional fi rst-aid kit. T e shields are engineered for aff ordabil- ity and ease of use, and are designed primar- ily to be used at the patrol level. However, the Level III version of the 16”x 28” is currently being deployed in patrol cars by reactionary tactical teams. T is allows for rifl e-rated protection on site as team mem- bers arrive, as well as for courthouse secu- rity and high-risk points of entry.
