Get to know the 2016–17 Athlete Advisory Committee


The Athlete Advisory Committee (AAC)


is composed of 50 athletes (singles, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating) who have represented the United States at internation- al competitions in the last decade, at the U.S. Championships in the last five years or at a sectional championship in the last year. To become part of the AAC, athletes are


nominated and elected by their peers. Once elected, they represent the athlete voice on the U.S. Figure Skating Board of Directors and

If I weren’t a skater, I’d do CrossFit. I think those athletes are amazing.


My favorite place I’ve traveled is Oberstdorf, Germany.


My pre-competition meal: I don’t really have a specific meal that I eat every time, but when I travel I always bring peanut butter, granola, trail mix and bars.


My favorite skating performance is my short program at the 2014 U.S. Championships and my pairs free skate at the 2012 U.S. Champion- ships.

If I weren’t a skater, I’d play tennis.


My favorite place I’ve traveled is Courchevel, France.


My favorite part of being on the AAC is being a part of a skating community filled with people from different ages, disciplines and seasons.


My pre-competition meal is/was a toasted ba- gel with cream cheese and a soy green tea latte.


My favorite skating performance is Meryl and Charlie’s 2014 Olympic free dance and Gabriella Papadakis and Guillame Cizeron’s free dance at the 2016 World Championships.

If I weren’t a skater, I’d do wrestling. My favorite place I’ve traveled is Budapest, Hungary.


My favorite skating performance is Michelle Kwan’s short program from the 1998 U.S. Cham- pionships.

issues through a ballot process, works on rule changes and votes on behalf of the athletes at Governing Council. Every U.S. Figure Skat- ing committee must have athletes make up at least 20 percent of its representation. The AAC works tirelessly on a number of


projects, such as cultivating its relationship with the Athlete Alumni Association. It works to locate alumni (past U.S. medalists) and in- vites them to become more involved in the sport. An alumni reception at the U.S. Cham- pionships each year brings everyone togeth-

My favorite part of being on the AAC is attend- ing Governing Council where we speak up for the athletes.

If I weren’t a skater, I’d: water ski. I grew up on a water ski show team that was established on our lake 60 years ago.


My favorite place I’ve traveled is Salzburg, Austria.


My favorite part of being on the AAC is getting to spend time with all of the athletes at Govern- ing Council, especially at the AAC dinner that we host.


My pre-competition meal is/was peanut butter and jelly.


My favorite skating performance is the Haydenettes’ 2012 Lady Gaga free skate.

If I weren’t a skater, I’d do horseback riding. I was a show jumper for a little while and have always loved horses.


My favorite part of being on the AAC is being included in a group with so many great current and former athletes.


My pre-competition meal is/was pasta. It is actually my favorite food on any occasion.


My favorite skating performance is my current short program. I am skating to “The Prayer” and this song has a special connection to my choreographer.

My favorite skating performance is: My “Paint it Black” program choreographed by fellow AAC member Rachael Flatt .

My favorite part of being on the AAC is learn- ing to be a productive community member and contributor under formal organizational structure.


My pre-competition meal is/was yogurt, granola and fresh fruit.


A favorite skating performance is Gia Guddat and Gary Beacom’s rendition of “Hands on Skates” or Kurt Browning’s “Singin’ in the Rain.”
