Tis series of magical moments played out
in front of a packed TD Garden, leaving a lasting impression on those U.S. skaters who rose to the occasion and set the stage for the all-star cast in the final group.

Rippon, Aaron and 2016 U.S. pewter medalist Grant Hochstein, Team USA’s contingent turned in near-clean free skates to finish in sixth, eighth and 10th place, respectively, marking the first time the U.S. has had three men in the top 10 at the World Championships since 2005 (Evan Lysacek, Johnny Weir and Timothy Goebel).

Hochstein, the first of the U.S. men to skate in the final segment, set the bar high with a ster- ling performance to music from Les Misérables that opened with a quadruple toe loop and featured eight triple jumps, including two triple Axels. He earned personal-best scores for the segment and overall in his World Championships debut. “I’m running out of good adjectives to de- scribe this experience,” Hochstein said. “When na- tionals was here two years ago, I was in 11th place. I think this season just shows the work that Peter (Oppegard) and Karen (Kwan Oppegard) and I have put into my skating. Tis moment was for me. It was my moment and it was everyone here’s
