LOYOLA LAUNCHES $100M CAMPAIGN


This past spring, Loyola unveiled a $100 million campaign for the Quinlan School of Business, the largest in its history. Since 2012, numerous investors have come for- ward to advance Quinlan’s mission, including alumnus and former McDonald’s Chairman and CEO Mi- chael Quinlan, who made a historic $40 million leadership gift, and John Schreiber, who invested $10 million in our new facility. These commitments, among others, have resulted in $70 million in new in- vestments for the school. Quinlan looks to continue its growth and collaboration with local and global business communities.

Students at Arrupe College of Loyola University Chicago will be able to graduate with an associate’s degree and go on to a four-year university without high debt.

2-year college takes shape


Thanks to Loyola, there’s a new way for students


with limited financial resources to get a college education. Arrupe College, which opened its doors in July


to more than 150 Chicago-area students, is a new two-year associate’s degree program for motivated students interested in attending a four-year institu- tion after graduation. Housed in Maguire Hall on the Water Tower


Campus, the college addresses a serious problem in higher education across the country—the need to increase access to, and completion rates of, college degrees for students from low-income families. Arrupe plans to do this by featuring small class sizes, plenty of one-on-one contact with fac- ulty members, and generous financial aid packages that will leave students with little or no debt. “Arrupe College is the latest incarnation of the


Jesuit’s 500-year-old mission of providing access to a transformative education to students from every background,” says Stephen Katsouros, S.J., dean and executive director of the new college. “We are excited to welcome our first class of students and introduce them to our innovative approach to higher education.” The college received a $1 million grant in June


from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation to sup- port student scholarships and a variety of operat- ing expenses, including education technology and capital needs. The college is named after Pedro Arrupe, S.J.,
