Loyola’s Health Sciences Division is a major driver of the University’s research and service enterprise. Over the last 14 years, significant changes have occurred, including increasing research and investing in medical and nursing education.


2001 The building housing the Stritch School of Medicine is named the John and Herta Cuneo Center


2009 Public Health Program launches


2011 Sale of the hospital to, and partnership with, Trinity Health complete • Health Sciences Division launches


2012 New facility for Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing opens on Health Sciences Campus • Advance Procedure Education Center and Walgreen Family Virtual Hospital open and become part of the Center for Simulation Education


2013 Construction begins on Center for Translational Research and Education


2014 The Stritch School of Medicine welcomes its first group of students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) immigration status
