Reshoring Initiative Founder Harry Moser to Keynote Metalcasting “Metalcasting is an exception-

Congress on April 25 The American Foundry Society (AFS) announced that Reshoring Initiative founder Harry Moser will deliver the keynote address on April 25 at the Metalcasting Congress in Milwaukee. “Harry Moser’s visionary work has not only helped many compa- nies document the economic advan- tages of reshoring, but also led to his induction into the Industry Week Manufacturing Hall of Fame,” said Doug Kurkul, the CEO of AFS. Te mission of the Reshoring

Initiative is to bring back good, well- paying manufacturing jobs by assist- ing companies to more accurately assess the total cost of offshoring. Te Initiative helps companies shift their collective thinking from “offshoring is cheaper” to “local production reduces the total cost of ownership.”

ally important industry,” said Moser. “I worked for six years for DISAMATIC U.S., and my father ran the foundry at Singer Sew- ing Machine’s main plant in New Jersey, so I am quite familiar with the metalcasting industry.” Moser also was president and

chairman of high-end machine tool supplier GF AgieCharmilles. He is frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and USA Today and has appeared on Fox Business, Mar- ketWatch and PBS. He earned an MS in engineer- ing at MIT and an MBA at the University of Chicago. Moser will deliver the keynote

address from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Later that day, from 3:15-4:45 p.m., he will lead a workshop on quantifying

domestic sourcing’s financial benefit for companies or their customers. “We helped a Chicago area contract

manufacturer save a $60 million order versus a lower-price Chinese competi- tor,” Moser said. The goal of the workshop is

to train AFS members to achieve similar results. The workshop is included with Congress registration, but advance registration is requested to ensure a seat and workshop materials. Another highlight of the event

will be the Hoyt Lecture, to be delivered by Douglas Trinowski, HA International, as well as numerous technical and management sessions, supplier exhibits, and the Cast in North America exhibit. To register for the event, visit www.metalcastingcongress.org.
