Hoyt Memorial Lecture: Observations on Advances in Casting Technology We are entering a new
era of metalcasting. The tremendous freedom of design with castings can overcome any deficien- cies in cast products. Controlling the various types of flaws in castings can improve quality. Heat treatments can be applied to refine the grain struc- ture and further improve the mechanical properties in castings, causing cast components to approach proper- ties of wrought metals. Come hear Richard Gundlach, a top metalcasting researcher from Element Materials Technologies, discuss the benefits of casting and share his experience in cast metal metallurgy and testing.
