Jamie Lynn Gilbert (BS01) was promoted to associate director of NC State Student Media.
Jeffrey A. Hoover (BBA01, MBA04) was named to Michigan Super Lawyers and Michigan’s Rising Star 2015 list for his work as an attorney for Howard and Howard.
Taryn Reid (BS02) completed a master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, and accepted a position as assistant director of marketing for Plymouth-Canton Community Schools.
David Ressler (BS02), a member of the Michigan Army National Guard, served as the senior enlisted advisor to the armed forces of Liberia. Ressler, of Grand Rapids, has since returned home to his civilian job as a parole/ probation agent for the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Gloria (Petruzzelli) Gallegos (BS03), a clinical and sports psychologist, was recently awarded a 40-Under-40 Award by the Sacramento Business Journal. She also published an article on the psychological aspects of sports in the Oct. 2015 issue of Triathlete magazine.
Brian Keane (BBA04) was hired as vice president of Health Plan Operations at Centene Corp., a Fortune 500 company and health care provider based in Troy. He recently passed the State Bar exam and became a licensed Michigan attorney.
Andy Bergman (BBA05) is senior manager for content development for
Salesforce.com. The website is focused on customer, partner and employee education for the rapidly growing demand for Salesforce experts and certifications.
Samuel R. Gedman (MPA07, CGPM05, CLGM06) completed his Ph.D. in political science at the University of Mississippi.
Joseph Klein (BS07) has accepted a full-time, tenure-track position in the Department of English at Triton College in River Grove, Ill.
Matthew Molyett (BS07), who sought election in 2014 to the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District, ended his run as a Democratic candidate after capturing 15 percent of the primary vote.
Kristen Trukova (MS09) is a clinical oncology dietician who recently received the Oncology Dietetic Practice Group Distinguished Practice Award from the Cancer Treatment Centers for America at Midwestern Regional Medical Center.
Tommy Green (BS11), above, president and CEO of CoolHeads, a line of sun protection headwear developed at EMU, has expanded his product line to Miami, Fla. His products have been used by celebrities and sports figures around the world.
Brian Betke (BS12) earned a master of business administration (marketing) degree from Arizona State University in May 2015.

Kathleen Bellers passed away on July 28 in Ypsilanti. Kathleen retired in 2000 after 30 years of service.
Karen L. (Kendall) Cline (BS93, MLS98) passed away July 27 in Milan. Karen worked as a project manager for many years.
Ronald F. Fulkert, professor of BMMT Education since 1997, passed away in Ypsilanti on June 28.
Patricia Hancock was a senior secretary working in several offices during her 20 plus years at EMU. Pat passed away in Winter Haven, Fla. on Oct. 13.
Rebecca A. Head, lecturer in the School of Health and Human Services, passed away in Ann Arbor on June 23.
Martha E. Irwin, emeritus faculty of teacher education from 1964 until her retirement in 1991, passed away in Ann Arbor on June 8.
Carolyn A. Kirkendall passed away Nov. 29 in Amelia Island. Fla. Carolyn worked as a librarian and retired in 1990.
Hugh B. McSurely, emeritus faculty in the College of Business for 27 years, passed away on Oct. 20 in Canton.
Laura C. Newcomb worked in Alumni Relations for 10 years. Laura passed away in Brighton on July 1.
Lawrence Ogden, emeritus geology professor who taught from 1963 until his retirement in 1989, passed away in Chelsea on Oct. 22.
Arthur Parris, emeritus faculty in the music department, passed away in Rhinebeck, N.Y. on Oct. 23.
Floyd A. Patrick was former department head and emeritus professor of management, retiring in 1998. Patrick passed away in Ann Arbor on July 5.
Henry J. Rokusek, emeritus faculty from Industrial Education who taught from 1964 through 1998, passed away Oct. 22 in Williams Bay, Wisc.
Joanna V. Scott, professor of political science, passed away on Oct. 31 in Ann Arbor.
James Slagenwhite retired in 1991 from the Department of Public Safety, after 23 years of service. Jim passed away on Oct. 28 in Milan.
Pamela K. Smith, professor in the teacher education department, passed away in Hamilton, Ohio on Oct. 17.

Barbara Starosciak (MA10), head of the foreign language department at the online Potter’s School, published “Homeschoolers Need Foreign Language, Too!” The book shares anecdotes from her 20 years of teaching French to homeschooled students.
Crystal Campbell (BS13, MA15), above, a lecturer in the EMU Communication, Media and Theatre Arts Dept., was awarded the National Arts Strategies’ Creative Community Fellowship 2015/2016. The community represents a network of arts and culture professionals.
Jacqueline Craig (BBA13) was recently hired as a credit analyst at Michigan Business Connection in Ann Arbor. In her new role, she will join the organization’s Portfolio Management Group.
