ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT


INGRID SHELDON (BS66) became involved in local government in 1988 when she was elected to City Council from Ann Arbor’s Second Ward. She later served four terms as Ann Arbor’s mayor and established commissions for increasing women’s safety, and art in public places. Ingrid currently serves as a member of the EMU Foundation Board of Trustees and has worked with several non-profi t organizations including the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor and Huron Valley Child Guidance Clinic. Her dedication to her community has earned her recognition from the Girl Scouts of America, HelpSource, the Washtenaw County Bar and other organizations.


ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENT


DR. JOHN T. WEBER (BS92) has researched in the fi eld of neurotrauma for 20 years. Some of his research focused on the potential link between repetitive mild brain injury and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, leading him to now investigate substances that could potentially protect the brain from traumatic insults and the aging process. John is also part of a group that raises funds to bring Syrian refugees to Newfoundland, where he now lives and teaches. His classes cover a range of subjects including neuropharmacology, drug abuse and addiction, and diseases of the nervous system.
